Sofia has been struggling this winter with her health and I have been sitting in for her to try and keep Always Catholic going. She has full editorial control but I am physically posting as she recuperates.
Sofia has followed the awful attacks on Pope Bendict XVI, the Extraordinary Form and in particular, bloggers who make and support these attacks. Since the beginning, her Confessor ordered her to stay out of it because as Sofia says, her self-professed lack of charity when trying to to speak the truth has been something she has been working on. Now, the straw has broken the camel’s back as she has said and she has received permission to comment. I will be posting this for her so I am going to blockquote it.
Today after reading my friend and colleague Patrick Archbold’s post on Pope Francis and Unity I could not contain myself any longer. I had to contact my confessor to ask permission to comment. It was granted.
As I was preparing to have Sarah crosspost his BRILLIANT piece, Sarah noticed the flurry of activity on Twitter and brought me up to date.
I, to am speechless…No, I am really, really angry. Like Italian, NJ woman angry. After reading the crap, oh yes CRAP that has been heaved at Patrick since the great EF bashing carnival began, I could not let this go.
I knew Patrick could handle his own battles and would appreciate that my confessor kept this maniac (me) at bay. Patrick has a family to support. I didn’t want to bum-rush the Register and EWTN and cause a commotion. Not that I am that important, but I tend to have loyal friends and followers who would email, twitter and call those places if I asked them to. They are devout Catholics and KNOW TRUTH even if everybody else says the emperor is clothed.
The beginning of this started with information posted about the Holy Father not truly being open to the EF. I personally think that if there is lots of smoke, the darn house is burning down!
Then the Catholic blogosphere self-appointed A-listers jumped on the Mahoney-Wuerl bandwagon to praise Francis to the point that it was obvious in their sickening phoney agendized adoration. Benedict XVI had now become the guy who is no longer Gary Cooper in High Noon. –> Look it up.
I read blog piece after blog piece from Catholic Bloggers you all know or think you know to be “Catholic” jumping on the “anti-bling” police patrol. Sickening. I pulled away under orders as I was ready to start a battle neocons and so-called real, not RADTRAD Catholics think they could handle. I live in Wisconsin but I’m FROM Jersey. I was ready to show them that Chris Christie and Pat Archbold weren’t bullies as they have been accused. If they think that’s bullying, bring it on, lightweights.
There have been times when I have had to break my promise to my Confessor as I saw “CATHOLICS?!?” attack Lisa Graas (@CatholicLisa CatholicLisa.com) and no one was there when it was 12-1. Lisa didn’t need me as she is strong in her love for Christ but I know she is grateful for having her six.
Pat Archbold can certainly handle it. His brother Matt is there to support him and a wonderful wife and family who know what a good man Pat is. BUT! He is a human being who needs support and prayer like all of us do. Why should he be out there alone? Rorate Caeli has dug in their collective heels and guess what? It looks like they may not be so wrong. How many times do we have to explain Francis? How do I explain to the young lady of 19 whom I raised an orthodox Catholic that she is not addicted to fad or fashion for loving the sacredness of the EF. She is hurt by Francis’s lack of thought before opening his mouth. I don’t care if it was discussed at an AD limina visit. The Vatican could have made sure the comment didn’t get out. She told me, “I tweeted the Pope and if I didn’t bring up the EF he probably would call me like all these other things he is doing off the cuff with lay people. They probably read my tweet and they laughed in the Vatican.” What do I say to her?
She has been praying with me for the Brothers Archbold since the stupid RAD TRAD idiotic attacks have started.
Now Patrick writes a stunning piece on this call to unity. Patrick reaches out for the same consideration for those once considered Roman Catholic. Oh yeah, Copeland and Palmer just love the Catholic Church, they don’t dare criticize it like Pius X, right? Puh-leeze. The Holy Father needs a crash course in all things not Argentina. But I have to explain that to a faithful Catholic that she is a simpleton addicted to a fad? Shaking my head.
Copeland’s ridiculous “Prosperity Theology” and Palmer’s misleading beliefs about the Early Church are not a “fad”, Your Holiness? I am laughing so hard right now, I feel better for the first time in nine months.
I cannot laugh however, at the dismissiveness towards those at the Pius X whom it is YOUR obligation to bring back into the fold. I cannot laugh at Sarah, who grew up in Benedict’s pontificate and became a Latin scholar because of the EF. (Some fad there, huh?) I cannot laugh at a devout and orthodox Catholic father, husband and journalist who has been the object of a Catholic hate campaign by other Catholics. (Pat, Rorate can help you find joy in being attacked in the name of Truth, they have earned their stripes)
Lastly, I cannot blow off the National WIMP Catholic Register which was a narthex joke of a paper until the monolith known as EWTN bought it and decided to get truly Catholic people like Pat and Matt to contribute. But then what do you expect when an organization like EWTN no longer speaks for it’s founder, Mother Angelica. I was once in the studios in her heyday when I HEARD HER SAY, “If it was up to me, I would have the Tridentine Mass wall to wall all over the world, if it was up to me”.
EWTN speaks from the mind of it’s big guy, Doug Keck a producer who has helped to slick up EWTN’s image. Oh yeah, that’s right, he used to work for Playboy. Thank God for conversions…just sayin’
I certainly am sad to see the National Catholic Register which had finally become a strong contender to put down the lies of the National “catholic” uh, Schismatic Reporter, get one body shot and run from the Cross.
My money is on Pat Archbold. When I needed help starting Always Catholic and I contacted him and Matt for advice they helped me. They didn’t know me from a can of paint except that someone they know, knew me. They posted my first of articles that first week and my server shutdown I got so many hits! Oh yeah that happened again a month later and I had to upgrade!! Btw, Pat Archbold was the first visitor I got at the site the day it debuted. The first. This man who is so busy with a family and so many irons in the fire, went to my blog early right after midnight. Yeah, if that’s bullying, then keep on keepin’ on Pat. Oh and by the way, I LOVE THE TERM RAD TRAD, sorta makes me feel like those crazy Apostles who would do the ultimate radical thing and die for their faith. I would, would you?
Below is the article Pat wrote. I have only published half of it as I ask you to please click on the link and go to Creative Minority Report and show them some love. TRUE CHRISTIAN LOVE…
I will apologize for being cranky about Francis when Kenneth Copeland “Bishop” Tony Palmer gives up zillions of dollars and power to influence and both convert to Roman Catholicism. Something tells me Copeland would be a RAD TRAD. Bet you it’s the BLING… Palmer on the other hand would love the EF, once he realized it’s not about him. How did this guy slither in to actually be listened to by our Church on Christian Unity? Must be that “pastoral” thing I keep here from all those red hats over in Rome now. Pastoral approach means, refines lies until they resemble TRUTH approach. Still not laughing…praying for mercy.
Please join us in prayer for Pat Archbold, his brother Matt, their families and Creative Minority Report because something tells me the pack of wolves and Judas’s out there are about to launch.
Ad Iesum Per Mariam,
Your RAD TRAD,
I apologize if I am all over the place in this piece as I am still not well and to be honest I am truly upset right now.
From Pat Archbold of Creative Minority Report:
“I must say that I am still in a state of shock, so I will refrain from any commentary on the situation. Suffice it to say, below you will find the contents that the Register felt was beyond the bounds and removed after posting, even though I had advance clearance to run it.”

Pope Francis and the SSPX: An Opportunity
By PATRICK ARCHBOLD
By now, many of you have probably seen the Tony Palmer video last week that was so exciting to many.
At a Protestant conference, Tony Palmer, an Anglican priest, brought along an iPhone video of greeting from Pope Francis. The subject of the presentation and of the Pope’s recording was unity of Christians.
In his remarks, Pope Francis made the following statements to our separated brethren regarding the separation: “Separated because, it’s sin that has separated us, all our sins. The misunderstandings throughout history. It has been a long road of sins that we all shared in. Who is to blame? We all share the blame. We have all sinned. There is only one blameless, the Lord.”
It is certainly true. Regardless of the truth of Catholic doctrine, the Church has accepted its share of the blame for the misunderstanding that were allowed to deepen and harden, leading to centuries of separation.
When I heard this, something else written by Pope Francis’ predecessor came immediately to mind. In 2007, along with the issuance of the “motu proprio” Summorum Pontificum, Pope Benedict XVI issued a letter explaining his reasoning. In that letter, he made the following statement.
Looking back over the past, to the divisions which in the course of the centuries have rent the body of Christ, one continually has the impression that, at critical moments when divisions were coming about, not enough was done by the Church’s leaders to maintain or regain reconciliation and unity. One has the impression that omissions on the part of the Church have had their share of blame for the fact that these divisions were able to harden. This glance at the past imposes an obligation on us today: to make every effort to unable for all those who truly desire unity to remain in that unity or to attain it anew. I think of a sentence in the Second Letter to the Corinthians, where Paul writes: “Our mouth is open to you, Corinthians; our heart is wide. You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affections. In return … widen your hearts also!” (2 Corinthians 6:11-13). Paul was certainly speaking in another context, but his exhortation can and must touch us too, precisely on this subject. Let us generously open our hearts and make room for everything that the faith itself allows.
It strikes me that this may be one of those critical moments in history to which His Holiness refers.”
PLEASE CLICK HERE TO GO TO CREATIVE MINORITY REPORT FOR THE REST OF THE POST. ALSO PLEASE KEEP THE ARCHBOLDS IN YOUR PRAYERS, THANK YOU, SOFIA AND SARAH
