Catholics are fond of saying, “The road to hell is paved with the skulls of bishops.” The reasoning for this quote can be found in the Book of Luke which, paraphrased, means “to whom much is given, much is required.” Bishops are responsible for the souls of their flock. So it is that they will have much to answer for when they meet God. These are the things I considered when I learned that Milwaukee’s Archbishop Listecki decided to back Wisconsin’s Government Cheese Revolution and, in justifying it, took both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI completely out of context. Catholics in Wisconsin, and in states across America, especially those who don’t want to see their state go bankrupt, deserve to know the truth.
I learned of Archbishop Listecki‘s support for the union protest in Wisconsin at the website of Catholics United (CU) – headed by Chris Korzen — a leftist group that you may remember from my previous posts: Soros Exposed in Obama’s Counterfeit Catholics and Top 5 Snakes in the Catholic Left’s Brood of Vipers. They’re thrilled to have Archbishop Listecki joining in their agenda and gave him their “heartfelt thanks“. In the aftermath of this newfound endorsement, of sorts, from the Archbishop, CU has, according to an email alert sent out today, scheduled a conference call for Thursday evening with United Auto Workers‘ (UAW) president Bob King and Service Employees International Union‘s (SEIU) president Mary Kay Henry. The alert was sent out to nationwide members of CU:
“We’re inviting you and other members of the faith community to join us on this conference call to discuss the situation in Wisconsin and learn why it is important for you and your state.”
They will, of course, be able to tell their members about Archbishop Listecki‘s endorsement of their cause — the official stamp of Church approval….or is it? In fact, Archbishop Listecki has strayed from reality quite severely in his quote of Pope Benedict XVI and Pope John Paul II in offering his endorsement.
